Principal's Message
We are the newest of six elementary schools in Westfield Washington Schools serving early childhood through fourth grade students. Monon Trail opened in 2009 and was named after the Monon Railroad, which lines our school property to the west. Eventually, the Monon Trail will be revitalized into parks and recreational trail connecting Westfield to Indianapolis. To honor and celebrate the historic implications of the Monon Railroad, we call ourselves the Trailblazers.
As Trailblazers, we recognize that all students are unique, and their learning needs, and programs, vary accordingly. We strive to be a world-class learning organization focused on continuous quality growth for all. We monitor individual student performance and provide differentiated instruction, interventions or programming to meet individual social, emotional and academic needs. Differentiated instruction is occurring in all classrooms. For some students, that means academic rigor beyond the local and state standards. For other students, we maximize our resources, both human and technology to provide additional opportunities to learn.
As the principal, I proudly boast that we have highly effective teachers. They work diligently to build positive relationships with students and design meaningful and engaging work in the pursuit of profound learning. While we embrace the various cultures and varied backgrounds of our students and families, our expectations remain high to cultivate college ready global citizens. Daily, we model and discuss our Guiding Principles reminding students to be Respectful, Responsible, Hard Working, Honest and Compassionate.
